Eat like a caveman—but look cute doing it!
If you’re familiar with the CrossFit exercise program, you’re already know that the Paleo Diet is recommended nutritional diet for CrossFit devotees because it fuels the body with the energy you’ll need for your workouts as well as the essential protein for muscle repair.
The Paleo diet is based on the idea that our ancestors, cavemen and cavewomen, consumed the foods necessary for proper, balanced nutrition and optimal health. When you think about it, cavemen (but more likely their cavewomen wives) prepared meals from only the food that were readily available in their hunter-gatherer society. So they sustained their bodies on lean proteins, fresh vegetables, and nuts and seeds—the foundations of most doctor and health organization protocols and foods that can help with better nutrition, weight loss, and muscle-building. There were no cave people out scrounging the forests for processed, sugar-laden and fatty fast foods at the nearest drive thru.
Today, however, things have changed. We live in a society of convenience and we’ve come to depend upon the idea that faster is better so we tend to opt for a lot of processed and frozen foods that we can just pop into the microwave. So when we travel or when we work overtime, we tend to order a pizza or grab Chinese food as opposed to foraging the woods for nuts and seeds like our ancestors would. But if you’ve vowed to stick to the Paleo Diet, there is hope. Thanks to the following smart phone apps—for the iPhone, Android, and even droid-enabled T-Mobile HTC phones—you can stick firmly to your Paleo nutrition plan and ask yourself: “What would my inner caveman or cavewomen do?” before you consume your next meal…
