What we ate wednesday: NYC edition

As I mentioned last week, I took a little vacay to New York. A weekend jaunt to NYC, if you will (and I will).

So for the first of my NYC recaps: the food.

As always thanks to the lovely Jenn over at PeasAndCrayons for being the creative genius behind WIAW, and also for being the hostess with the mostess (gosh I hate that saying, but Jenn really is the best hostess)

So without further ado, here are some of the yummy things Mama Bear and I encountered in New York.

First stop:

The dessert component of breakfast

I'm not sure what is less photogenic....me or my meal

For the most part my mom and I shared all of our meals. A tomato/avocado/jalapeno/cheese omelette and home fries, followed by a refreshing strawberry crepe for breakfast dessert. This extreme heat wave had me craving avocado for every meal. (and sprite/7up…which is weird because I never ever drink pop….I digress)

Bagels without holes

My love affair with starbucks knows no bounds. I especially enjoyed this asiago bagel. I enjoyed it more when I remembered that Mr PG’s dad calls it a-say-go cheese..

looks disgusting

Don’t let this picture fool you. This was the most amazing dish of my life. Fettucini alfredo (from a restaurant called Alfredo’s…they know their stuff). Honestly, best thing I ever ate. Just thinking about it makes me salivate all over my keyboard. I’d walk back to NYC for some more of this

Fresh mozzarella and tomato

I never knew the importance of good cheese until I started hanging around some Italians. Fresh mozzarella is a game changer. (I’m honestly not sure if I even know what “game changer” means…or if it’s even a popular saying) Anyways, fresh mozza? Bee’s knees.

pesto with sundried tomatoes and shrimp

Mama bear shares my obsession with all things Italian….she once ended a friendship over bad lasagna. She also shares my dessert addiction

Tiramisu is one dessert I do not like

Now, chocolate is something I can get on board with

A trip to Crumbs bakeshop

Peach cobbler and cookie dough cupcake

Best. Cupcakes. Ever.

Compromising on a double scoop: Snickers and Pinapple coconut

My first trip to Chipotle. Burritos are unphotogenic.

Breakfast in a box

Fries, toast, omelette

I haven’t included everything I ate in NYC of course. Sometimes I’m too hungry to stop and take a photo…and often enough I just forget…We definitely ate well on our trip. We both came home craving some veggies though…back to reality πŸ™‚

Needless to say, not the healthiest of trips. But definitely one for the books πŸ™‚

  1. OMG I’m actually drooling… Ok not actually but in my mind I am. Everything looks so scrumptious (learned that word from my grandma lol)

  2. The picture of the bake shop makes me feel like I’m in New York. And the pesto shrimp takes me straight back to Italy…if only it were slightly less creamy! I want spaghetti carbonara now. Thanks for that πŸ™‚

  5. I totally agree about Tiramisu! I would think I’d like anything cake-like because I’m obsessed – but so do not like tiramisu – too soft or melty or something…:(

But chocolate? OH YES! πŸ™‚ I SO want to go to NYC. I live about 4 hours from the border (I think ?) in Canada…I always think I should just take off and go. But then I worry I wouldn’t know where to stay or what to see/do on my own…and I don’t really have anyone to go with.
